WE PICKED A NAME!

WE FINALLY DECIDED ON A NAME!
HER NAME WILL BE...
LAKYNN KAY HATCH!
(pronounced Lay-kin)

Okay so Devan and I had a pretty difficult time picking out the name! I thought we were never going to agree on one! I love unique names! My name is fairly unique and I loved never having to share a name with someone else in my school or work. Devan, on the other hand, likes unique but not too unique of a name.
At first we both liked (Devan actually loved) the name Taylee.. Then I did a little research and decided there are quite a few Taylee's out there and that it was too common of a name. So it was a no for the name Taylee.
Then I thought of the name McKarty.. Which I still absolutely LOVE this name, but sadly Devan literally HATED it! I tired and tried to talk him into it! Then I figured I couldn't name her something that he really didn't like, so out went the name McKarty.
Then we tried to combined both of our favorite names.. McKarty and Taylee and came up with Maylee. We both liked it but wasn't in love with the name.. So we kept thinking..

Then one day Devan came home from work and said he was drove past a sign that said "LAKIN" and asked what I thought about it. I actually LOVED the name! We both Loved it! YAY! I decided to change up the spelling a little bit to make it more of a girly name and that is how we came up with

LAKYNN KAY HATCH!

Here are all the names that made "the list"

Taylee
McKarty
Nayvie
Maylee
Kamree
Nykee
Taislee
Taigley
Tenley
McKamey
McKartnee
Tayvie

  3. Kind of funny that all your names that made "the list" end with an "e" or "ey" and you ended up deciding on a name that doesn't sound like any of those! We love unique names too and named our (now 16 month old little girl) Greilyn (pronounced Gray-lin). Love love love the name you picked and congrats on a beautiful little girl!

  7. That is the most ghetto-est name I've ever heard. Poor baby...she's probably going to have a hard time getting a job.

  8. Don't listen to the haters! Our little 75-month old boy Aedolph Hietlaer (pronounced Ayy (from the French "Le'Mao") - Dolph (as in dolphin) Heet (coming from the Greek-Latin meaning "heart") - Layer) loves his unique name and so do we! Every time our wonderful little boy gets excited he throws his hands in the air in celebration! We know he'll grow up to do great things.

  9. Can you picture a doctor or engineer named LaKynn? Nope. LaKynn sounds like the girl who greets you at the tanning salon.

    1. I'm pretty sure that they envision the girl marrying some guy at 19 and being impregnated by 22 or so. Much like her useless mother.

  10. oh my god, this is real? i thought this was a joke. You know like the whole internet is making fun of you, right??
This poor little girl is 3 by now and saddled with a name that sounds like a meth-head alabama stripper.

  11. Why on EARTH would you name your child that? I'm sorry, but you're an idiot. Trying to make your child "different" or "unique". Your child isn't special. There are 7 billion other people on earth just like them, except now they're already ahead because they don't have a fucking retarded name.

  12. Ok, could you all freaking NOT? So you don't like her kid's name. Oh, I'm so sorry she didn't personally consult with you before selecting a name for her child. Here's a fact of baby-naming - you never know what name trends are going to do, and you can't predict the changing associations people will have with a name within your child's lifetime. All you can do is choose a name you like and roll with it. I'm sorry you have nothing better to do with your lives than mock someone's choice of baby name for a child who's now THREE. What, are you going to harass her until she drags her preschooler out and changes her name to something that you approve of? Grow up.

    1. Exactly! That's why I named my baby boy Alice! His middle name is so unique. His middle name is "In". My Father and mother blessed me with the last name wonderland. It's so unique! Alice In Wonderland is our little treasure!

  14. Roll with it? Okay. Don't be hurt when the kid has to change her name, or goes by Kay, to be taken seriously at work. Unless you'd rather her just get a HS education and be a Mommy. Which is fine, too, since she will probably unemployable.

  24. This is so darling! I have three lovely daughters named LaQuinoa, LaQuinta, and LaFawnduh. Their names attract ALL the attention, and my favorite part of having unique names for my kids is that they say the kids at school love talking about their names. They're the center of attention. When they get home from school, they cry and say it's bullying. I just tell them that the other kids are just jealous. I'm going to name my son Qécántéh, because I love the way it rolls off the tongue. Congrats!
